DEZ was founded by Douglas Glen, a media industry pioneer with a proven international track record in consumer online entertainment product development in both Europe and the United States:

* RealNetworks
* POPcast Communications
* America Online's Digital City
* Yahoo's LAUNCH
* Foote, Cone & Belding

* MTV Europe

Glen joined RealNetworks whilst still living in the US. He moved to London to become Director, International Video Services for EMEA. During this time he bolstered Reals' streaming video-on-demand subscription offering 'SuperPass' through the licensing and aggregation of branded content such as UEFA Champions League, and the multi-lingual news channel, EuroNews. He was instrumental in developing the consumer product into a premium news and sports content proposition realising considerable reduction in subscriber churn.

Prior to joining RealNetworks in Europe Glen had already developed a significant pedigree in the US video-on-demand space. As VP, Product Development for POPcast Communications, he managed all product development from conceptualization of the commercial proposition and product specification through market launch of POPcast’s suite of consumer (VOD) video-on-demand products and B-to-B 'white label' Enterprise platforms.

During his tenure with POPcast, Glen supervised all commercial initiatives and maintained business development ownership of all (ASP) Application Service Provider accounts. He was also responsible for managing account relationships and Professional Services contracts, including British Telecom's OpenWorld, JVC America, Roxio, Cisco Italy/Fastweb, and was the interface with the Microsoft MovieMaker, and Windows Media Groups.

Mr. Glen has also held management positions at America Online's Digital City (now called City Guide) where, in his capacity as Product Manager, he was responsible for supporting AOL's Web Properties Group and Interactive Marketing’s new business development initiatives. He managed the expansion of AOL's 'Digital City' to 52 Metropolitan editions and was instrumental in the introduction of centralised editorial publishing network-wide.

At Yahoo Music's LAUNCH Inc. Glen spearheaded the entire eighteen-month project from concept through to market deployment. He retained third-party engineering resources and developed the original site architecture incorporating the M.I.T. designed Firefly collaborative filtering engine. Launch was one of the first consumer-facing music website to incorporate what are now referred to as social networking features; fan communities; user-generated reviews; and cutting edge personalization and recommendations technology.

Prior to joining LAUNCH, Mr. Glen was in-house producer at RGA/LA were his duties included account management, professional services and production for interactive game development and motion-picture visual effects production. RGA/LA's client portfolio included Fortune 500 corporations and major agencies such as Foote, Cone & Belding in San Francisco. He performed the role of senior interactive account manager for clients such as Levi Strauss & Company and their first major web campaign for the Dockers brand.

Before leaving his home country of England, Mr. Glen held prominent positions at various television and film post-production companies such as London Weekend Television and Molinare, and was a freelance Production Manager at Propaganda Films and MTV Europe.
